Gifts to The Garden Club of Virginia
provide a solid foundation for our organization and ensure
our continued level of excellence. Because member dues do

The Garden Club of Virginia Endowment
This fund, formerly known as the Kent-Valentine Endowment, was
established for long term investments to provide for the ongoing
maintenance and preservation of the 1848 Kent-Valentine House,
headquarters of The GCV and Historic Garden Week. Donations designated for The Garden Club of Virginia
Endowment, along with any undesignated donations, are deposited to this fund.
Each quarter an amount established by the Finance Committee is automatically
transferred to the Kent-Valentine House Treasurer for House operations.

The GCV Conservation Fund
This fund, recently renamed
to recognize members’ interest in a wider focus on conservation efforts
throughout the Commonwealth, supports ongoing conservation projects of
The Garden Club of Virginia.

The Common Wealth Award Fund
This fund was established May
1979 and designated for long term investment to provide for annual
grant(s) to promote local projects sponsored by member clubs in the area
of conservation, beautification, horticulture, preservation and
education. The name Common Wealth (two words) was chosen to describe the
Wealth that is Common to all Virginians. Designated donations are
deposited into the fund. The award money, taken from the interest of the
account, is given at the Board of Governors' Meeting. Instead of using
The GCV fiscal year to determine value, this is the only award that its
yearly amount/total is based on year end earnings.

The SEED Fund
Formerly known as the
GCV Fund and renamed in 2006 (SEED is an acronym for Support,
Education, Events and Development), this fund was established in
2002 to be used for general purposes of The GCV including, but
not limited to, special events, special projects and committee
special needs. Designated donations, unspent funds from The
Garden Club of Virginia annual budget, or surplus funds from
special events, beyond the allotment which certain committees
are allowed to carry forward, will be placed in this fund.
