Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History

Danville, VA

The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History is located in the historic Sutherlin Mansion, which has also served as the Danville Library and was used as the last capital of the Confederacy. The Garden Club of Virginia has given the restoration of the Sutherlin era fence that surrounds the grounds of this important house. The 850-foot long fence was replicated based on careful study of 19th century photographs of the house and grounds. This handsome fence to complete their landscape will be presented to the city of Danville on April 27, 2005.
